Initial Oral Examination
Your initial oral examination includes a visual examination, charting, periodontal probing, diagnosis and treatment recommendations. We will also take x-rays, which includes the panoramic x-ray for proper diagnosis of the anterior (front) and posterior (back) teeth as well as the bite-wing x-ray series for proper diagnosis of interproximal decay of posterior teeth.

Crowns and Veneers
You can have a new smile with all-porcelain crowns or veneers on the anterior teeth. For the posterior, we use porcelain fused to metal or gold.

Fillings: Resin
Tooth-colored fillings that are light-cured to match your teeth. Amalgam: Silver-colored fillings, more durable material.

Root Canals
We perform root canals on anterior, premolar and molar teeth. Dr. Nicholson is now using the latest endodontic equipment. This system allows her to shape canals faster, is safer and more efficient.  This translates to reduced chair time for patients.

Periodontal Treatment
You should have a standard cleaning at least twice a year. A periodontal treatment includes an Adult Prophy (basic cleaning). If it has been over a year since your last cleaning, possible treatment will include either Periodontal Scaling (deeper) or Root Planning and Scaling (requires anesthetic).

Mouth Guards
Whether you are an athlete or casual sports participant, you should wear a mouth guard to protect your teeth. If you grind your teeth while you sleep, an occlusal guard will help reduce symptoms of TMJ disorder. We custom make mouth guards in both soft and hard materials.

Removable Dental Prosthesis
For missing teeth, we can make dentures or removable partials for you. This option can give you the beautiful smile and function that you have been wanting.

Facilities and Equipment

  • Laser for periodontal treatment- Laser treatment is used in our office to treat and maintain periodontal disease. The laser kills all the bacteria at the base of a periodontal pocket and prevents the bacteria from progressing. The laser is also used to promote tissue healing, and create less bleeding, swelling and discomfort for the patient.
  • State of the art digital x-rays and panoramic- This high-frequency x-ray generator minimizes patient exposure to radiation. Digital imaging is much more comfortable for patients and produces an image that can be enlarged for easy viewing. This process also eliminates the use of harsh chemicals and reduces environmental waste.
  • SybronEndo- Dr. Nicholson is now using the latest endodontic equipment. This system allows her to shape canals faster, is safer and more efficient.  This translates to reduced chair time for patients.
  • All staff members have current health care provider CPR certification.
  • All staff participate in continued education throughout the year to ensure knowledge of the latest dental trends. Our latest session was at the ODA in Portland where we attended classes on medical emergencies, esthetic dentistry and perio therapy.
